1. License Grant. Upon purchase, Smith Cut grants you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the software on one Mac computer. The license key is bound to your machine.

2. Subscription. The Core Plan is billed monthly at $20 USD. Subscription renews automatically. Cancel any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

3. AI Credits. AI credits are attached to your Smith Cut account and license. Credit Pack credits never expire. AI Story costs 1-5 credits in Fast mode and 3-11 credits in Deep mode depending on clip count. Creator Mode analysis costs 1-3 credits depending on tier. Subtitle generation costs 1 credit. Credits are deducted when an AI request is submitted. If a request fails due to a server error on our end, the credit may be automatically refunded — contact support if a failed run is not credited back within 24 hours.

3a. AI Workflow Data. When you use AI Story, Smith Cut sends low-resolution still-frame samples, clip filenames, durations, local quality metrics, and any editor notes you have added to Smith Cut Cloud Vision for analysis. When you use AI subtitles or interview cleanup with auto-transcription, Smith Cut sends temporary extracted dialogue audio chunks for transcription. Full source video files are not uploaded. AI outputs are assistive suggestions — all editorial decisions remain with the editor.

4. Restrictions. You may not redistribute, resell, reverse-engineer, or share your license key. Violation results in immediate revocation without refund.

5. Refunds. Refunds are available within 7 days of purchase if the software cannot be made to function on your system after following the setup guide.

6. Disclaimer. Smith Cut is provided as-is. We are not liable for data loss, project corruption, or any issues arising from use with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Data we collect. Account email (for license delivery), Stripe payment and customer metadata (we never see raw card details), license and session validation requests (key + hashed device identifier), AI credit usage events, and AI workflow payloads you intentionally submit.

Media handling. Beat-sync rough-cut building reads your active Premiere sequence locally and does not upload full source media. AI Story sends still-frame samples and metadata only. AI subtitles and interview cleanup can send temporary extracted dialogue audio chunks for transcription when you run those workflows.

License validation. Smith Cut validates your license and credit balance via our secure server-side API on launch and periodically during use. Requests contain only your key and a hashed device identifier — no personal media data.

Third parties. We use Stripe for payment processing. Their privacy policy applies to all payment data. We use Smith Cut Cloud services for AI Story, transcription, Creator Mode, and subtitle formatting requests. We do not sell or share your email or clip data with any third party for advertising purposes.

By activating Smith Cut with a license key, you agree to the following:

Server-side validation. Smith Cut validates your license and credit balance via Smith Cut's servers on launch and periodically during use. An internet connection is required for license activation, credit purchases, AI Story, subtitles, and Creator Mode cloud analysis. A short offline grace period applies for local rough-cut building if validation cannot be reached.

Single machine use. Each license key activates on one Mac and is associated with that device. To transfer your license to a new machine, contact support.

No redistribution. You may not share, sell, or distribute your license key or the Smith Cut installer to any third party.

No reverse engineering. You may not decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of Smith Cut.

Revocation. Smith Cut reserves the right to revoke any license key at any time for violation of this agreement, with no refund obligation.

Updates. Active subscribers receive all updates released during their subscription period.
